Petite bunny chows in the heart of Johannesburg

With Diwali around the corner, what better way to extend the celebrations than by having a good ol’ bunny chow? It’s distinctly South African and reminds me of a Hindi friend who shoves any-and-everything, in a quarter loaf.

If you have only a few hours to spare in Johannesburg and looking for a ‘pretty’ bunny, check out Milk Bar in Rosebank. This café-come-bar offers all sorts of uniquely African experiences. From sipping on Zamalek (Black Label beer), to listening to Afro jazz and enjoying a bunny (loaf of bread filled with curry). All of this, in one of South Africa’s most well-known city centres.

With a slogan like Get African, one can already imagine what the atmosphere is like before you even get there. Milk Bar is ideal for a charming coffee during lunch or drinks after work. With its peculiar African setting and retro-style furniture, prepare to be transported to a place where you are free to express your individuality and have fun.

The menu covers a variety of South African favourites, served with a creative flair. On average, a signature meal (including a side) goes for around ±R80 which is affordable compared to other places in the area.

So, go on, try it. You might feel enlightened too.
